Abogados<\/p><p>The Pension Reform Law (Law No. 21,735) introduces a new 8.5% employer contribution to Chile\u2019s pension system, to be implemented gradually starting in August 2025.<\/p><p><strong> Gradual increase of employer contributions<\/strong><\/p><p>Under the transitory provisions of Law 21,735, the new employer contribution will be phased in over nine years, reaching 8.5% of taxable income by 2033.<\/p><p><strong>Implementation schedule:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>Aug 2025 \u2013 1.0%<\/li><li>Aug 2026 \u2013 3.5%<\/li><li>Aug 2027 \u2013 4.25%<\/li><li>Aug 2028 \u2013 5.0%<\/li><li>Aug 2029 \u2013 5.7%<\/li><li>Aug 2030 \u2013 6.4%<\/li><li>Aug 2031 \u2013 7.1%<\/li><li>Aug 2032 \u2013 7.8%<\/li><li>Aug 2033 \u2013 8.5%<\/li><\/ul><p><strong> Allocation of the new contribution<\/strong><\/p><p>The new 8.5% contribution will be divided as follows:<\/p><ul><li>4.5% to the worker\u2019s individual account (AFP).<\/li><li>4% to the Autonomous Pension Protection Fund (FAPP), which will finance the new Social Insurance benefits.<\/li><\/ul><p>Within the FAPP allocation:<\/p><ul><li>1% for female life expectancy compensation.<\/li><li>1.5% for the Disability and Survivorship Insurance (SIS), now managed by the State.<\/li><li>1.5% for the Protected Return Bonus, funding the Years of Contribution Benefit.<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>New social insurance benefits<\/strong><\/p><p>Starting January 2026, two benefits will be paid:<\/p><p><strong>Years of Contribution Benefit:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><ul><li>0.1 UF per contributed year (up to 25 years).<\/li><li>Requires 20 years of contributions for men, 10 for women.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><p><strong>Women\u2019s Life Expectancy Compensation:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><ul><li>Minimum of 0.25 UF.<\/li><li>Paid to women retirees aged 65 or older, with proportional benefits for early retirees.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><p><strong> Additional measures<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>The Unemployment Insurance coverage gap will be expanded in May 2025.<\/li><li>The Universal Guaranteed Pension (PGU) will increase to CLP 250,000 in September 2025, starting with retirees aged 82+.<\/li><li>The first AFP affiliate tender will take place in August 2027, to be repeated biennially.<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>Recommendation:<\/strong><br \/>Employers should ensure their payroll and pension reporting systems are updated to include the new contribution rate effective August 2025.<\/p><p>For assistance implementing Law No. 21,735, please
