José Antonio Velasco has extensive experience in M&A transactions, banking and finance, as well as construction, infrastructure and real estate, water and energy, along with local and international contracts in a wide range of sectors.

He is a lawyer from Universidad de Chile (2001) and LL.M. Pritzker School of Law (Chicago, 2013) and Certificate in Business Administration, Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University (Chicago, 2013).

Among his outstanding transactions, he led the negotiation and structuring of the joint development agreement between Oceanus and EDF for the construction of a desalination and generation project, the sale of Uno Salud to Linzor Capital, the merger of Surlat (Emmi Group) with Quillayes, the sale of Stericycle’s local subsidiaries to Veolia for USD $30. 7mm, the financing and offtake agreement between Mitsui and Pampa Camarones (Minería Activa), the acquisition by Patria Investment of the gymnasium chains of Grupo 02 for USD $35mm and the joint venture between Mitsui Bussan Woodchip and Bosques Cautín.

He also participated in the USD $500mm financing for Pacific Hydro’s energy projects, the EU €126mm financing transaction of Ezentis by Highbridge Capital Management LL.C. (JP Morgan Chase), as well as the financing for Coro Mining Corp. by Greenstone Capital.

José Antonio previously worked as an international associate in the Chicago and New York offices of Latham & Watkins LLP on M&A, financing and capital markets transactions.

He is currently an active member of the Legal Committee of ACADES (Chilean Desalination Association) and of the Investment and Business Committee of AMCHAM (Chilean American Chamber of Commerce).
